Stefan Wackerhagen

was born in 1977 in Germany. As soon as he could walk he started exploring the Uckermark – one of Germany's last wild landscapes. Later he extended his hiking, bike, canoe, and ski tours to Poland, Sweden, Norway, France, Italy and Siberia. After finishing a sports science degree at the University of Potsdam, Germany, Stefan became one of the first people to walk across the ice of the 728km Lake Baikal in Siberia (Crossbaikal Expedition). The more difficult and the longer his expeditions became, the more important it was for Stefan to capture his experiences with photographs. In 2004 Stefan came to Canada, where he was smitten by the remote Yukon Territory. He now is living in Whitehorse, where he works as a photographer and wilderness guide.
